JJJ- : What’s the most bizarre front cover you’ve ever looked at and gone “Oh for the love of God people”.

N: You know it’s something new every..every week (laughs). I seem to have an enormous amount of boyfriends in the last year.

JJJ-Will: Well you’ve had heaps and every time you mention a name that person is then your boyfriend in some magazine …well today you’ve been talking like obviously to Will Anderson. If you could like mention ‘Will Anderson’ in one of your other interviews…

Nicole: Sure

JJJ-Will: …that would be very good for my career

Nicole: Oh really

JJJ-Adam: It would be very good for Will’s career Nicole.

Nicole:
We’ll have to go for a drink when we get back and I’ll see what we can do.

JJJ-Adam: Quite disastrous for your’s Nicole. I was walking down the corridor of our radio station here and you’re on the front page of ‘Revolver’ and it’s a shot from the film and with the hairstyle and the angle I just totally didn’t even notice it was you.

Nicole: I take on a new persona

JJJ-: If you could reinvent yourself anywhere in the world apart from film..rock star, ballerina..what do you want to do?

N: Writer. I would love to be ..um…one of the greatest writers. I would love to win the Pullitzer.

JJJ-Will: Do you actually write yourself now?

N: Yeh yeh...but it’s not published (laughs)

JJJ-Will: I went to the movies the other day and was actually watching your film and got a Fantail that had your name on it while I was sitting watching your film. Admittedly I had eaten about 25 Fantails so it wasn’t as big a coincidence

N: I’m very happy…I remember the first time I found out I was on a fantail….I was thrilled by that…that means you’ve made it.

JJJ-Will: You do the whole Russia accent and speak Russian in this film. Were you scared about taking that on. Were you scared it was going to be a little bit ‘Hunt for Red October’

N: First of all…is it!?

JJJ-Will: No! It’s like it’s really really convincing.

N: Good..OK…(laughs) I was terrified actually..to get those sounds wrong you could end up being Peter Sellers…sounding like Peter Sellers and everybody laughing. I was frightened of that. Then I got obsessed with learning the language. I got ridiculously obsessed. I’d now like to go , I’ve always said, to Russia and do some Chekhov there.

JJJ-Will: Ever dream when you were doing a film like BMX Bandits way back at the start of your career ..one day you’d be saying ‘One day I’ll go to Russia and do Chekhov’?

N: I dreamed then one day I would be an actor and do something important, you know, in terms of work, when I was doing BMX Bandits.

JJJ-Adam: It’s probably a better time in your career now to be saying ..having done all this and this great new film out and having done the Russian and that ..that I’d like to go do Chekhov in his native language. If you had said that straight off the set of BMX Bandits you might have looked a bit of a wanker.

N: Yes…I think it probably still sounds a bit of a wanker no?

JJJ-Adam: I think you are a lot closer to getting away from it now than you would have straight off the set of Dead Calm. Now you are in a position where, realistically, if you wanted, you could be a wanker! What is it that stops you, just at least occasionally?

N: Coming from Australia. Yeh yeh Because if you have that basis of growing up with , I think, the Australian sense of humour, and also the intolerance of that , you just go ‘Come on’. And my mother certainly is my biggest wanker barometer.

JJJ: Your wankometer

N: yes (laughs)

JJJ: Thank you for your generous time this morning on Triple J.

N: I am taking Will out for a drink when I come back

JJJ-Adam (Huffy) Oh fine…well I’ll just leave then …no that’s fine……

N: You’re invited too…

JJJ-Will: No don’t invite him…let’s go by ourselves. It’s recorded now you’d better do it..

N: (Giggling)
Oh Shit! No no …I will..I will. I’m a woman of my word.

They are all laughing so much now they can hardly speak

JJJ-Will: Well if you don’t…I’m selling that story to Woman’s day

N: I’ve got til the end of the year..to stay good on my word..OK? Alright…on my word…OK…alright…

Will Wil get that drink with Nicole Kidman ?

Late last year, Nicole Kidman promised on-air at Triple J that she would go out for a drink with Triple J’s breaky dude Wil Anderson, before the end of the year (2002). Well, Anderson waited…and waited…and waited. But Kidman never called back - until today.

For the last couple of days, Anderson has expressed his dismay that he hadn’t heard from Nicole, but this morning (Thur 9 Jan) Nicole Kidman called Anderson and co-host Adam Spencer and confirmed that she would indeed honour her pledge. In an amusing on-air exchange lasting almost 4 minutes, Kidman proved she’s a woman of her word.

The on-air call included:

Adam Spencer:
We’ve got Nicole Kidman on the line. How are you Nicole...

Wil Anderson: ... Adam put the phone on hold and just looked at me and said “I think it really is HER”… (laughter)

Nicole Kidman: I’m very well thank you. How are you? I promised you I’d call.

Anderson: You see, I was just getting worried. I just didn’t want to miss…You know…Me and…well obviously I didn’t want you to miss out on what would have been the greatest night of your life. (Nicole laughs)…

Spencer: Wil was a bit nervous, but I think you made him wait the exact right amount of time…

Anderson: Well you see the thing was Nicole, I saw you in the papers, you were visiting sick kids, you were spending time with your family…and I thought she’s mocking me by doing these things…

Kidman: No no I was just taking my time…

Anderson: Hey Nicole, are you still around for a few days? Is there still a chance that this, you know, drink of ours is going to happen while you’re in Australia?

Kidman: Well it would have to happen pretty soon, cos I’m leaving. I’m leaving tomorrow... It would have to happen pretty much this afternoon or tonight. That’s when it would have to happen. I cannot believe this is happening. I’m a woman of my word, aren’t I?

Spencer: We cross now to Wil and his diary. (sounds of pages being torn up) I’ve got nothing. He’s got nothing on.

Anderson: I was going to see that Eminem film…That’ll be on tomorrow won’t it? (Nicole laughs)

Spencer: Nicole thanks so much for your call. Stay on the line and Wil and you can line up some details.

After the interview they locked in the time and the place for their drink off air, both absolutely top secret.

Tomorrow on Triple J Breakfast listeners will find out how Anderson enjoyed his evening with international mega-star Nicole Kidman.
